Project Manager Lampros Antiohos and Christos Christopoulos at TGI Sport in Greece report on TGI Sport’s engagement at one of Europe’s leading Basketball clubs.
“Prior to the start of the 2018/2019 season, we came to an agreement with Olympiacos BC and became the official Sports Technology Provider of the club.
During the initial conversations with Olympiacos BC, who is one of eleven teams with an A-license from the ULEB Euroleague, it became obvious TGI Sport shared the same idea to offer the best fan experience before and during matchday by adding unique elements, concepts and content at the Peace and Friendship stadium in Piraeus.
The first step was the introduction of our state-of-the-art perimeter LED displays that provide the market with leading hardware and software with optimal contrast, colors, operational efficiency, risk mitigation and player safety for consistent and reliable top in class performance. With a flawless function via our LED systems and operators and the curves in front of the team benches, the messaging and sponsors content was on display with vibrancy and color consistency.
For the 2019/2020 season TGI Sport delivered a custom-made Cube to be installed inside of the uniquely architectural design of the stadium within a very limited time frame.
It was a challenging project for TGI Sport’s up to 15 heads big techs team on site. TGI Sport designed, measured, received the approvals for the structural design, approvals from the Ministry of Sports, as the stadium is public property, ran all the cables, installed the cube, connected it to the new control room, and all of this in 64 days, while the team had practice sessions most of the time.
The outstanding result is a large LED screen cube that can display different content in every element. From live game coverage over live statistics, player presentation, 3D graphics and contests to replay content created by TGI Sport’s operators in the control room during the game.
Media, fans and the club personnel were all amazed by the dimensions, the functionality, the built quality as well as the content quality displayed on the Cube, thus improving the whole matchday experience.
The control room built by TGI Sport is now in charge of the whole matchday experience managing the content on the cube, the perimeter system, the sound and the animations that take place before and during the game.
Moving forward, TGI Sport will continue to provide the best solutions to the club every year in order to increase the revenue as well as upgrade the matchday experience for the fans.”
