Laurie is an elegant and versatile batsman who has played cricket all around the world.
After an apprenticeship at Durham UCCE and the Oval, Laurie moved to Warwickshire in 2011. A white ball success straightaway, he established himself in the Championship during the 2013 season with 950 runs and 3 centuries. Laurie was man of the match in the 2014 Blast final as Warwickshire defeated Lancashire.
In 2017 he joined Sussex where he moved his white ball batting to another level. In 2018 he was the leading run scorer in the T20 Blast and opportunities in Overseas Leagues have followed. Well regarded on the international circuit with successful spells in PSL, BPL, CPL and T10, highlights include a maiden century for Rajshahi Kings in BPL. In 2020 he was included in the 24 man England ODI training squad showcasing how highly regarded he is. During 2020, Laurie returned to the Oval where he enjoyed another excellent Blast season as Surrey’s leading run scorer with 309 runs and Strike Rate of 153. Since 2018, Laurie has scored more runs than anyone in the Blast.
Away from the cricket pitch Laurie is a keen golfer and spends as much time as he can on the golf course. During lockdown Laurie delved into the world of media when he started his new podcast ‘The Inside Half’ featuring many of his cricketing teammates and other well known sportsmen and women.
