Australia
retain the Ashes

Mission accomplished for the Australian Men’s Cricket Team, who have successfully retained the Ashes in England, after drawing the five Test series 2-2.

TLA cricketers Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson and Cameron Bancroft each contributed to the win which saw the Aussies retain the urn following a victory in the Fourth Test at Old Trafford.

Fellow TLA cricketer Michael Neser was also a part of the 17-man touring party but did not play.

Wade’s major contributions came in the second innings of the First Test in Edgbaston, as well as the final innings in the Fifth Test at The Oval, scoring 110 and 117 respectively. The two tonnes are Wade’s highest two international scores in his 27 matches in the Baggy Green. Wade, who returned to the international Test team for the first time since Australia’s tour of Bangladesh in 2017, was happy with the team’s performance as attention now turns to the Australian summer of cricket.

“I feel like I’ve shown in the heat of the battle, in a tough series against world-class bowlers, that I can stand up against them,” Wade said after the Fifth Test.

Evergreen paceman Siddle played in the First, Second and Fifth Tests, taking a total of seven wickets, while Pattinson played in the First and Third Tests picking up five wickets while also contributing with the bat. Opening batsman Cameron Bancroft made his return to the Australian Test side playing in the First and Second Tests.
